  Hrithik Roshan is a popular Indian film actor best known for his performance in films like ‘Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai,’ ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham...,’ and ‘Koi... Mil Gaya.’ Having appeared in over 30 films, he has established himself as one of the leading actors of Bollywood. One of India's highest-paid actors, he is also famous for his remarkable dancing skills. He has won numerous awards, which includes six ‘Filmfare Awards’ and 16 ‘IIFA’ awards. Born in Mumbai, India, Roshan wanted to become an actor since his teenage years. He actively participated in dance and music events while studying in college. Before making his film debut, he assisted his film-maker father in his projects. During this time, he also learned acting from the famous acting coach Kishore Namit Kapoor. He made his debut, playing a dual role, in the romantic drama film 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai' which was directed by his father. The film became a huge commercial success. In fact, it became the highest-grossing Indian film of the year. Roshan won several awards for his brilliant acting. The film was added to the ‘Limca Book of Records’ for the greatest number of awards won by a Bollywood film. Following the success of his debut film, Roshan appeared in many successful films, such as ‘Lakshya,’ ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara,’ ‘Krrish,’ and ‘Agneepath.’
  Hrithik Roshan was born on 10 January 1974, in Mumbai, India, to Rakesh and Pinky Roshan. His father is a well-known director, producer, and former actor in the Hindi film industry. Roshan has an older sister named Sunaina.
  He first appeared in the 1980 Hindi drama film ‘Aasha’ as a child actor, where he played a minor role. He made minor appearances in several other movies as well. It was during his teenage years that he made his decision to become a full-time actor. However, his father wanted him to focus on his studies.
  He went to ‘Sydenham College’ in Mumbai from where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in commerce. During his time in college, he took part in dance and music festivals. Later, he started assisting his father in few of his films, while also performing duties like sweeping the floor and making tea for the crew. He also learned acting from Kishore Namit Kapoor.
  Roshan made his film debut in the 2000 romantic drama film ‘Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai’ which was directed by his father Rakesh Roshan. The film eventually became one of the most successful films of the year.
  Due to the monumental success of the film, Roshan became a superstar overnight. For his incredible performance, he won the ‘Filmfare Award’ for ‘Best Debut’ and ‘Filmfare Award’ for ‘Best Actor,’ becoming the only actor to have received both the awards for the same film.
  The same year, he appeared in the film ‘Fiza’ where he played an innocent Muslim boy who eventually becomes a terrorist after the 1992-93 Bombay riots. The film was a commercial success, and his acting was appreciated as well.
  Over the next few years, he acted in several popular and successful films, such as ‘Mission Kashmir’ (2000), ‘Yaadein’ (2001), ‘Na Tum Jaano Na Hum’ (2002), and ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge’ (2002).
  In 2003, he played the lead role in ‘Koi… Mil Gaya,’ which is widely regarded as Bollywood’s first science fiction film. The film was a huge commercial success, and it also won him two ‘Filmfare Awards.’
  The following year, he played the lead role in ‘Lakshya,’ a war drama film, which was based on the 1999 ‘Kargil War.’ Roshan played the role of ‘Lieutenant Karan Shergill’ who plays a major role in helping his country win the war.
  In 2006, he appeared in the Indian superhero sci-fi film ‘Krrish’ where he played the lead role. The film, which was a sequel to the 2003 movie ‘Koi… Mil Gaya,’ follows the life of ‘Krishna’ who inherits superpowers from his father and later becomes a superhero after saving children from a fire accident. The film was a huge success, and earned Roshan a nomination for the ‘Filmfare Award’ for ‘Best Actor.’
  The same year, he appeared in ‘Dhoom 2,’ playing the main antagonist. The film, which was directed by Sanjay Gadhvi, became a huge commercial success.
  Over the next few years, he appeared in many films, such as ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ (2008), ‘Kites’ (2010), ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ (2011), ‘Agneepath’ (2012), ‘Krrish 3’ (2013), ‘Bang! Bang!’ (2014), and ‘Mohenjo Daro’ (2016).
He was seen in the 2017 romantic action thriller ‘Kaabil’ where he portrayed a blind man named ‘Rohan Bhatnagar’ who is on a revenge mission after losing his wife.
  In 2019, he was seen in the biographical film ‘Super 30,’ which was based on a mathematician named Anand Kumar and his educational program ‘Super 30.’ The same year, he starred alongside Tiger Shroff in an action thriller film titled ‘War’ which emerged as his highest-grossing release.
  ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’ (Say… You’re in Love), which is Hrithik Roshan’s debut movie, can be regarded as one of the most successful films in his career. Directed by Rakesh Roshan, the film starred him in dual role. He portrayed ‘Rohit,’ an aspiring singer who is killed after he witnesses a murder, and ‘Raj,’ his lookalike who falls in love with Rohit’s girlfriend, and avenges Rohit’s murder. The film became the highest-grossing Indian film of the year 2000 and earned Roshan two ‘Filmfare Awards.’
  ‘Krrish,’ a 2006 sci-fi superhero film, is among his most successful works. The film, which is a sequel to the 2003 sci-fi movie ‘Koi… Mil Gaya’ (Someone… I Found), starred Roshan in the lead role. He portrayed a young man named ‘Krishna’ who, after discovering his superpowers, takes on the persona of a superhero to help people in need. He also played the supporting role of Krishna’s father who was the protagonist of the prequel. The film was a huge commercial success.
  ‘Kaabil’ (Capable), which released in January 2017, was directed by Sanjay Gupta. The film revolves around a blind man named ‘Rohan’ whose wife commits suicide after being gang-raped. When the police fail to crack the case, Rohan decides to take the law into his own hands. The film did well commercially and received mixed reviews from critics.
  He was signed as the brand ambassador for ‘Cure.fit,’ a health and wellness startup. The deal is said to be one of the largest endorsement deals signed by an Indian startup.
  Hrithik Roshan has won many ‘Filmfare Awards’ in his career. For his performance in ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai,’ he won the ‘Filmfare Best Male Debut Award’ and the ‘Filmfare Award for Best Actor’ in 2001.
  His performance in ‘Koi… Mil Gaya’ earned him the ‘Filmfare Award for Best Actor’ along with the ‘Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor’ in 2004. He won the ‘Filmfare Award for Best Actor’ for his role in films, such as ‘Dhoom 2’ and ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ in 2007 and 2009 respectively.
  Hrithik Roshan used to stutter during his early years. He struggled with it for many years, and later overcame it with the help of speech therapy. As a young man, he was also diagnosed with Scoliosis, a disorder which prevented him from dancing. However, not only did he overcome it, but also became one of the finest dancers in Bollywood.
  He married his long-time girlfriend Sussanne Khan in 2000. The couple had two sons, Hreehan and Hridhaan, who were born in 2006 and 2008 respectively.
  Hrithik and Sussanne separated in 2013 and divorced in 2014. It was rumored that Hrithik was having affairs with several actresses, including his ‘Krrish 3’ co-star Kangana Ranaut.
  His supposed affair with Kangana Ranaut kindled considerable controversy. In 2016, he filed a lawsuit against her for cyberstalking and harassment.
